Samsung Galaxy S4 variant - Zoom SM-C105A

What the heck is up with this fellow. Looks like a typical Galaxy S4 in the front, but it's a full-blown digital camera in the back?!

I picked this up for $27. The only catch, it doesn't boot.

I did a quick teardown on it, to see if there are any obvious issues.

As a diagnostic step before teardown, I plugged it in and swapped out the battery with a verified working compatible model. No life was apparent.

When I opened this up, I had thought that there was a AAA battery in there, but it turns out it's a large capacitor to power the xenon flash for the camera. This flash is not like the LED flash I have in any of my other phones, but it's what is typically found in photography cameras to very powerfully illuminate the subject.

the full disassembly wasn't too bad. There were some different screws being used, but it didn't seem intentional to dissuade repair. I got the device fully reassembled. The only snag I hit was the spring for the battery door. I had to make a couple attempts to get it correctly reinstalled.

Close inspection doesn't show any glaring issues, but the charging port does have some corrosion to it.
Next I will test the microUSB port for faults, and potentially replace it.

It's not common that a broken charging port would completely prevent a device from turning on at all, even when the battery is full and charged, but it could happen if it's shorting out.
